Just turn on your TV to any Christian channel and you'll see something along these lines "For a love offering of $300, I will give you my book and a CD on how to kick Satan out of your life." or "For a gift of $49, you will receive a DVD on how to use prosperity in the Bible to get rich." Go to the lobby of any church, and you'll see similar items.

Sure, churches do nice things sometimes, but so do other corporations. McDonalds and Wal-Mart give large scholarships away, but that doesn't make them non-profit|||Most of the money from those type of things go to missionaries, missionaries who help people in poor countries. In other words, it mostly goes to charity.

Edit: Yes, never mind the fact that they provide food, water, clothes and education to those who need it. Case in point, the Christian Missionary Alliance.|||In my interpretation of the reason, the church is valuable to government in the fact it helps control the people. And riches do flow in faster, not being taxed.
Look up the word 'tithe', it means tax. And it is not commanded, yet I will say if someone can show the direct command to tithe......|||Atheism is a non-Prophet organization.|||I think we should tax the sh*t out of them
