international house: What do you think about this hotel at waterloo Road at Yau Ma Tee?|||It's a nice hotel on Waterloo road, which is a good location but a few blocks off the busy Nathan road. For foreigners, the name YMCA evokes backpacker hotels and cheap student housing, but in HK, the YMCA hotels are really top hotels in good locations. The International House is more or less at par with its sister location in Wanchai, as well as the Salisbury on Salisbury road in TsimShaTsui is also a good deal, very nice, great location near the Harbour. Average room rate for a double is about 1000HKD although you might be able to negotiate a lower rate. In the same area, I also like the Metropark also on Waterloo road, a little cheaper than the YMCA (about 700HKD for a double) but great business hotel. I like it because of the roof-top outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre. The Internation House has an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre too, but I personally prefer lounging outside.|||It's a great bargain for Hong Kong. Not the best located, but clean...you have to remember YMCAs in HK have marble floors, so it ain't your grandma's YMCA.
