my wife and i are having dinner in 2 hours with a friend i havent talked to more than a couple times in the last 4 years. the reason i havent talked to him is that i knew him from my time as a member of a small penticolstal church, you know, speaking in tongues and "prophesy" and laying on of hands, etc. well, he is moving to kansas city to go to school at the "international house of prayer", which from my experience with them seems to be an end times cult based on evangelical christianity. they think that they are creating a new temple and that god dwells there with them because they worship constantly. i'm concerned that my friend is throwing his life away, but i know that anything i say he will ignore, and arguing will only strengthen his resolve. is there anything i can do?|||Being a "loose atheist", why can't you spare them? .|||Saying something will probably make it worse (it did when I confronted a similar experience), hope (but didn't work in my case afterwards either). Show me how by scriptural truth. How is your leader any different than Joseph Smith, or Mary baker Eddy or any known dead or living cult leader?. Show me how with scriptural truth. Would you follow your leader into and including death like the folks in Waco texas did? show me why with scriptural truth. He wont be able to and or he will refuse you, but make your point strongly that you believe this is what he is doing and show him by, scriptural truth.|||Tell them the time for working is now, while there's still light. Someday there won't be. Until then, WORK, not sit in a building out of fear. The time for fear died when Jesus Christ rose from the dead. There's only one temple, and that's in heaven. Tell them.... look around you. Does this look like its already heaven? God doesn't dwell "with" them. He dwells IN them. THEY are the temple. It's not a building made by human hands or design. That pretty much eliminates every single building on the earth. The Word of God cuts through man's crap. Don't go in your own strength.
